Join the River Pines Counseling Team

River Pines Counseling is growing and we’re seeking experienced, independently licensed therapists who are passionate about providing thoughtful, evidence based care to adults ages 18+.  Our practice is designed for clinicians who want meaningful work, professional autonomy, and a supportive team within a calm, nature inspired environment.

Located in Stillwater, Minnesota, River Pines Counseling offers a grounded, restorative setting where clinicians can thrive — professionally, personally, and financially.

Our Mission & Culture

At River Pines Counseling, our mission, culture, and approach to clinical care are grounded in helping people reconnect with themselves, strengthen their relationships, and move forward with clarity and resilience. We believe meaningful change happens when clients feel safe, respected, and supported. Our work is rooted in evidence based approaches while honoring each person’s unique story and goals.

We equip clients with practical tools and strategies they can use long after therapy ends. Research consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes, so we prioritize authenticity, compassion, and trust in every interaction. These values guide both our client care and our team culture.

Inspired by the restorative qualities of nature, our practice environment is calm, thoughtful, and grounded. We view therapy as both an art and a science and encourage clinicians to practice with curiosity, presence, and deep respect for the complexity of human experience.

We care deeply for our clinicians and are committed to fostering a workplace that supports balance, sustainability, and long term fulfillment.

Why Experienced Therapists Choose River Pines Counseling

Many clinicians come to River Pines Counseling after feeling constrained in large mental health organizations — where mediocre pay, rigid schedules, limited autonomy, and a lack of emotional or professional support can make meaningful clinical work difficult.

Others make the leap into solo private practice only to discover that it’s far more isolating and administratively overwhelming than expected. Non billable tasks pile up, business development feels unclear, insurance navigation becomes a full time job, and the joy of clinical work gets overshadowed by the stress of running a business alone.

River Pines Counseling offers the perfect in-between.

We provide autonomy, flexibility, and earning potential of private practice—without the isolation, administrative burden, or financial uncertainty. Our rock solid business model, high quality systems, and deeply supportive team allow clinicians to focus on what they do best: providing exceptional care.

Therapists choose River Pines Counseling because we offer:

  • A professional setting that respects both clinical excellence and clinician wellbeing

  • A stable, well run business model that removes the stressors of solo practice

  • A team of experienced clinicians who value consultation and collaboration

  • A beautiful, calm therapeutic environment

  • Flexible scheduling that supports work life balance

  • Opportunities to develop specialized areas of practice

We believe therapy is most impactful when clinicians feel supported, trusted, and connected to meaningful work.

Who Thrives Here

River Pines Counseling is an excellent fit for clinicians who value:

  • High quality, evidence based clinical work

  • Professional autonomy within a supportive team

  • A sustainable, busy caseload

  • A hybrid schedule blending in office and telehealth sessions

  • A calm, beautiful therapeutic environment

  • Opportunities to grow a niche or specialty area

Most clinicians maintain four to five days of sessions per week, with a mix of in office and telehealth work. We are open to discussing part-time work arrangements. We are also open to fully remote work arrangements. Our model supports both clinician wellbeing and client accessibility.

Who We Are Hiring

We are seeking fully independently licensed clinicians who want to build meaningful, sustainable practice within a collaborative and flexible environment.

Ideal candidates:

  • Hold an independent license in Minnesota (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, PsyD, or PhD)

  • Appreciate the entrepreneurial aspects of private practice within a group model

  • Seek a long-term exclusive work arrangement with our group

  • Are comfortable with a hybrid schedule (2–3 days in Stillwater, 2–3 days telehealth) or fully remote

  • Are open to flexible scheduling, including occasional early mornings, early evenings, or Saturdays

  • Are actively practicing and ideally bringing an existing caseload of 10+ adult clients

  • Demonstrate strong clinical skills and a warm, grounded presence

  • Value collaboration while working confidently and independently

  • Have interest in developing or expanding a clinical niche

Please note:

  • We serve adults ages 18+

  • We accept both insurance and self pay clients

  • We service both Wisconsin and Minnesota telehealth.  Please be open to pursue reciprocal licensing if you are only licensed in one state

  • To ensure clinicians remain focused, present, and not overwhelmed by demands outside of session time — ultimately allowing clients to receive the highest quality care — we do not offer free introductory calls, free consultations, or interactions with third parties on a client’s behalf

  • To support clinician wellness and long term financial sustainability, we do not offer pro-bono services or sliding scale fees

  • River Pines Counseling partners exclusively with commercial insurance plans and is not in network with non-commercial payers
